We will drive through lush pristine landscapes splashed with stunning white small villages, we will pass along hillsides, we will see terraces planted with olive trees, vineyards and almond and citrus fields. The area also has a fascinating historical legacy and is well known throughout Spain for the qualities of its medicinal waters.
La Alpujarra is a big valley that extends westward between the southern foothills of the Sierra Nevada, Sierra de Lújar, Contraviesa and Gádor, with the Mediterranean coast on its south side. After the pick up at your hotel we will head to the picturesque village of Lanjarón. This spa is famous for its numerous fountains, each accompanied by a short phrase or poem by Federico García Lorca. Then we will continue towards Orgiva, capital of the region.
In out tour route we will pass by dazzlingly white villages, located in the midst of an emerald landscape. We will pass next to the localities of Caratuñas, Pampaneira, Pitres, Pórtugos as we climb to Trevelez, with 1,486 meters of altitude, one of the highest villages in Spain and also famous for its exquisite Iberian air curing hams.
Then we will continue our trip to Bubión and Capileira, two villages that dizzily hang over the impressive gorge of the Poqueira river. Here we will stop to enjoy a traditional Alpujarra food and you will have free time to explore this typical Arabian style village, full of narrow and sinuous streets, flat roofs and characteristic chimneys, before returning to Granada.
